Swimming Photo Day

Swimming Photo Day

Participation

Team Individual is designed for programs with 400+ swimmers, with Photo Day participation typically mandatory for the whole team. Purchasing is always optional.

Why full-team participation?
It provides the scale that allows us to offer Photo Day at no cost to the team, keep it affordable for families, and maintain the quality VUE is known for.

No upfront payment for families. They receive their album first, then decide whether they’d like to purchase.

General Setup

  • Short-course pool
  • 10 swimmers per group (ideally similar age group)
  • 2 rotations per hour
  • Approximately 20 swimmers per hour
  • Photographed one stroke at a time, 4 strokes per rotation

The Group Rotations

Each swimmer gets approximately 30 seconds to swim each stroke. We have two photographers shooting simultaneously

10 swimmers at a time, stroke by stroke in rotation. One swimmer finishes, the next goes. Once the group completes one stroke, we move to the next.

The Pace

A group of 10 takes approximately 25–30 minutes.

≈ 20 swimmers per hour
≈ 160 swimmers per full day (8hours)

During Practice

Photo Day usually runs alongside the team’s normal practice schedule, typically toward the end of the week or over the weekend. Some teams prefer to rotate swimmers through during their regular training day, while others prefer to schedule Photo Day separately. Either setup works.

What We Need

  • 2 side lanes — ideally Lanes 1–2 or the two biggest number lanes at the opposite edge of the pool.
  • Team coordination — help schedule groups and communicate Photo Day details to families.
  • Parent volunteers — help gather swimmers and keep rotations moving.
  • Volunteer perks — each volunteer parent receives one complimentary stroke album for their swimmer.

VUE handles the photography and everything after.
